“Pond scum”

Films: Dragon Pond Monster (2020)

Alias: None

Type: Mutant

Location: Civilized Area/Jungle

Height/Weight: Twice that of an elephant.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Draconic beings are the ones we hold in reverence on this site. Such majestic creatures, no matter how bad the effects or the film itself. However, what science has created today is little more than a mockery of their beauty...or perhaps a homage? Your mileage may vary.

History: Once a creature living in Dragon Lake, this fish/dinosaur beast was mutated into what it is now thanks to the waste from creating a cure for cardiovascular disease. It was a bit much for the scientists to handle. In no time at all, it escaped its confines, and fled into the wilderness (which also happened to be full of mutants like carnivorous pitcher plants and giant cobras). It was inevitable that it would come into contact with civilization, and that just couldn't be allowed, lest more people get eaten.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After chasing the survivors around the abandoned facility, the monster is finally brought down when its head is entangled with electrical wires that go off and fry it to death. However, it is later shown to have survived after everyone except the last scientist left. She'd be mutant chow...except she's been mutated a bit herself, and it enables her to calm the beast down.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Heavy artillery. Also, there are some things that will upset its stomach, and it can get caught up in upchucking such contents.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-We'll admit, this creature has an uncanny design, and those brief practical shots are impressive. However, for the most part, it's about as convincing as your average Syfy monster. Also, its heavily implied by the end that it doesn't have to be the mindless eating machine it's been for a while. Perhaps we will see it again. Who knows?

Trivia: -This film was also simply known as "The Monster".

-The design of the mutant is most likely meant as a reference to how the fish, specifically the carp, is often seen as the initial form of a young dragon. One could say that this beast is caught in the middle of the transition.

All this effort and only the co-star shows up?!
Valley of the Fish-Rex.

I'd say this was the worst salamander hunt ever.

Relax, he's here for the COVID shot...and every other shot known to mankind.
